There is no ideal, one-size-fits-all approach to healthy weight reduction because everyone reacts differently to different eating programmes owing to physiology, genetics, culture, and emotions, to mention a few. Losing weight does not mean you have to sacrifice your favourite food, but it means alteration to your diet and lifestyle.
Nutrient intake is an important consideration in weight management. Eating a meal that is full of refined carbohydrate, ultra-processed, and devoid of many micronutrients are not considered a healthy eating, much less “calorie management” where it requires more nutrient-dense and whole food.
Whilst it is true that if you eat more calories than you need you will gain weight, it is not necessarily true that reducing calories will lead to weight loss. There are many underlying conditions which may hinder your path to lose weight, e.g., inflammation, adrenal dysfunction, liver toxicity, thyroid dysfunction, excess oestrogen, and poor gut microbiome. It is my job to set and plan a weight loss programme for you and find out the underlying cause that may impede your plan.
